According to court documents, W R Hotel Properties owed almost $2.1 million on a $3.5 million mortgage from the bank, in connection with its February 2008 purchase of the hotel from NewPage Corp. It also owed $16,064.74 on a $28,914.75 mortgage it took out in July 2008. Wiggins, a local businessman who previously served as City Council president and challenged Mayor Mary Jo Carson in the 2010 mayoral election, was pronounced dead at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield from a heart-related illness.
