Mrs. Helen Morrel Carroll, by her attorney, J. Ambler Smith, yesterday filed a petition for divorce from Gen. Samuel Sprigg Carroll, praying the custody of her child. In her petition Mrs. Carroll states that she obtained a divorce from Gen. Carroll some years ago to escape his cruel treatment, and on April 20, 1885, at his urgent solicitation and promises to reform and love and honor her, she remarried the respondent.
