WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Capt. Doane of the steamer "Regulator," which arrived here yesterday from New York, reports having seen a vessel on fire off Cape Hateras, on last Wednesday night. Capt. Doane reports as follows: "Wednesday, December 5, 7 p.m., made Hatteras light, and at the same time saw a large light off shore, hearing Southeast by North, at 25 miles from Halterass, kept off for it and found it to be a fore-and-aft schoener on fire.
