THE Democratic Legislature of Ohio meets on the first Monday of January. Its most important work will be the section of a United States Senator, to succeed STANLEY MATTHEWS. Immediately following the election last fall it was very generally conceded that the Senatorship would fall to Mr. PENDELTON as a sort of natured right, it is found that while Mr. PENDLETON is stronger than any other candidate named, a combination is likely to be made, which will defeat him.
