From the N.Y. Times. ST. LOUIS, Mo., Dec. 6. -- The trial of Michael Lyddon for frauds in the construction of the new St. Louis Custom-house was proceeded with to-day in the United States District Court, Testimony was elicited going to show that the grosset frauds had been perparrated on the Government. Which the specifications call for solid stone, it was in evidence that there are cavities in the piers from 6 inches to 2 feet wide, these being filled when small with liquid cement, and when large with spall and cement.
