Arlington has the second-highest percentage of people with bachelor's or graduate/professional degrees in the Washington area (after the city of Falls Church). About 84 percent of all graduating high school seniors in Arlington attend college. Nearly one-fifth of Arlington's population is Hispanic -- the highest percentage in the Washington area, according to the county. More than one-third of Arlington residents speak a language other than English at home.
Eleven of the Metro's 33 stations are in Arlington. The Rosslyn Metro station features the third longest continuous escalator in the world (194 feet 8 inches). It takes 140 seconds to ride from top to bottom.
