Japanese electronic composer [Nobukazu Takemura], a frequent collaborator of Chicago's experimental rock outfit Tortoise and a respected knob twiddler in his own right, would seem the master of the intangible, an underground figure simply too obscure to connect with the masses. But Takemura has already made it into the homes of thousands, because his knowledge of all sounds electronic landed him the job of programming Sony's beloved (and coveted) robot dog, the AIBO. Takemura brings the same innocence and playfulness to his music that he brought to the digital pet, making his compositions that much more palatable.
