Here are the local Grammy nominees: the Deep Dish DJ duo of Sharam Taybei and Ali Shirazinia was nominated for remixer of the year after they gained attention with their work on Madonna's "Music." Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer were nominated for best musical album for children for their "Pillow Full of Wishes." In the same category, Sweet Honey in the Rock was named for "Still the Same Me." Local boy Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters (who recorded their last CD in Northern Virginia) were up for rock album of the year for "There Is Nothing Left to Lose" and two other awards, while the Smithsonian Folkways collection "The Best of Broadside 1962-1988" was named in several categories, including historical album of the year (with producers Jeff Place and Pete Reiniger), and best album notes (by Place).

Earlier this month, the online magazine TMOTTGoGo announced the winners of its Third Annual Internet Go-Go Awards. TMOTTGoGo (which stands for "Take Me Out to the Go-Go") began three years ago as a print magazine but moved exclusively to online at www.tmottgogo.com last year. Band of the year was Backyard Band, while a CD by Rare Essence, "RE 2000," was named tightest go-go album of the year. Newcomers Suttle Thoughts were named as both the tightest new act and as leaders of the new school. See a complete list of the winners at the aforementioned Web site.

Finally, on Tuesday night, the Ascot Nightclub (1708 L St. NW; 202/296-7640) will host the fourth annual Metropolitan Reggae Music Awards. Featuring live performances this year by DKGB, Soldiers of Jah Army, Willie Paul, Englishman and Shango Band, these awards (organized by longtime promoter Cleveland Wedemire, known by all as Tony Java) have grown to be an important part of the growing reggae scene here. Up for best reggae band are Shango Band, DKGB, Positive Vibration and S.O.J.A. For a list of winners, check the Web site www.dcreggaeawards.com after Tuesday night.
