Arrington Dixon, a veteran politician and former chairman of the D.C. Council, stepped back into politics this week after the Democratic State Committee selected him to fill a vacant seat on the council.
Dixon, 54, who served as council chairman from 1978 to 1982, was elected on the fifth ballot by members of the state committee Thursday night at the Washington Convention Center. Dixon out-polled seven candidates for the spot.
