A year ago, the Maryland Terrapins used an unusual quarterback rotation when they played Wake Forest. In a predetermined plan, sophomore Kevin Foley started the game, but junior Scott Milanovich also played extensively.
Maryland Coach Mark Duffner may not use the same system he did last season when Foley and Milanovich split time evenly in a 31-7 victory over the Demon Deacons. Although Duffner said [Brian] Cummings will play, it's possible that Cummings will be limited to directing the Terrapins' short-yardage option attack, known as Black Thunder.
Cummings started the first four games of the season as Milanovich served a four-game, NCAA-imposed suspension for gambling on college sports. Milanovich made his first start of the season on Sept. 28 in a 31-3 loss to Georgia Tech, completing 32 of 51 passes for 352 yards. He was sacked six times and threw an interception. But Duffner named Milanovich the starter for today's game, saying Milanovich "played well, all things considered."
