"Boys Keep Swinging" introduces what has since been [David Bowie]'s classic look: tousled blond neo-rockabilly pompadour and tailored suit. It also features the singer in drag as his own trio of back-up singers, while "DJ," from the same album, shows a guy kissing the singer as he walks down the street in a crowd. That's the last glimpse of homoeroticism in this set, whose earliest clips portray Bowie as an androgynous (and heavily made-up) alien. Most of the subsequent videos find Bowie paired with an exotic woman - the "China Girl" whose nude seaside embrace was too risque for MTV or, in "Loving the Alien," a masked, apparently Middle Eastern partner.
