It is worth nothing that the number of infant deaths per 1,000 live births during the same period in the United States was seven, which was higher than that in any of the countries mentioned above. In those countries, it ranged from 4 to 6. The difference between infant mortality in this country and Germany (which was at three per 1,000 live births) is substantial.
