Survivors include his wife, Helen Fulcher Walutes of Mount Vernon, whom he married in 1964; two children by his first marriage, Ronald Leonard Walutes Jr. of Arlington and Kathleen Bedford of Springfield; a child by his second marriage, Michael P. Walutes of New York City; his mother, Anna Walutes of Fairfax; a sister, Delores Para of Fairfax; and three grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Anna Lanham Plant of New Carrollton; seven children from his first marriage, Katherine Papas and Paul E. Plant, both of Takoma Park, Dolores Taylor of Hyattsville, Robert A. Plant of Bethesda, Michael F. Plant of Martinsburg, W.Va., Walter I. Plant III of Fairbanks, Alaska, and John M. Plant of Malibu, Calif.; two brothers, Francis X. Plant of Alexandria and Michael L. Plant of Wheaton; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Griggs was a longtime docent at the National Gallery of Art and was active in First Presbyterian Church in Arlington, where she was an elder, taught in the Sunday school and belonged to the women's organization. She also was a member of the Arlington chapter of the American Association of University Women and the Powhatan Springs Women's Club.
