"We are in deep sympathy with Mrs. Darling and the families of [Frank Darling] and Lansing Bennett," CIA spokesman Dave Christian said this week. "The CIA is giving all of them as much help as possible, and we are cooperating fully with the FBI's efforts to solve the case." But [Judy Becker-Darling] said she feels CIA officials were ill-equipped to cope with terrorism at their own front door - and the tragic aftermath. And if the agency thought it was being sensitive to her loss, it failed miserably, she says.

Only an hour earlier, they'd been at home with their pet parakeet French Fry, getting ready for the day. [Frank Scafidi] ate his favorite Honey-Nut Cheerios and read the newspaper. Judy ironed a skirt and packed her lunch. For whatever reason, they were running a few minutes late. For whatever reason, they took a different route to work that day, winding up on traffic-choked Chain Bridge Road (Route 123), instead of taking their usual shortcut along side streets. And Judy wasn't happy about it.
