Southern Maryland's state senators and delegates are asking state transportation officials to reconsider a proposal to drastically cut the Route 5 Flyer, a commuter bus service used by St. Mary's residents who work in the District.

The cuts would allow MTA to increase bus service from La Plata and Waldorf, where MTA officials said there are hundreds more passengers who commute to the District.
