David Boreanaz may look like an angel, but he plays a ruthless vampire kept in check by a temporary soul. He plays Angel, the object of stake-wielding Buffy's romantic desires on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," which airs Tuesdays at 8 on the WB.

Boreanaz, 27, said he will complete this season of "Buffy" before launching "Angel" in the fall. But viewers may have to wait until the spinoff to see him in a romantic light again. "There will be room for romance," Boreanaz said. "Who and when I don't know, but they definitely will exploit that aspect of it. That's the type of character that he will become."

Described as a darker, more adult version of "Buffy," "Angel" will take Boreanaz's character to Los Angeles, where he will struggle with both his own tormented soul as well as various monsters. Boreanaz joked that it shouldn't be hard to find a few disgusting characters in the City of Angels.
