Reports that U.S. and Iranian officials have set aside decades of animosity to discuss such issues as Afghanistan and Iraq -- both countries border Iran -- emerged during [Mohammad Khatami]'s three-day visit to Lebanon.

Khatami, who leads the reformist camp in Iran that advocates better relations with the United States, said the meetings in Geneva did not discuss relations between Iran and the United States.
