As usual, the question came up Sunday following Tiger Woods's record-shattering, history-making, 12-shot victory over runner-up Tom Kite, in a thrilling event witnessed by a record-setting television audience. And for the first time in many years, the notion that someone could win The Masters, U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship does not seem the least bit farfetched. "Whether it's realistic or not, I couldn't really tell you," Woods said. "But I think it can be done. Phil Mickelson won four times last year. Well, if you win the right tournaments four times, then you have the slam. It's difficult to win because these are majors. These are the best players in the world under the most extreme conditions and circumstances. For now, Woods has run away from the rest of the competition. And the public loves it. Woods's historic final round received a 15.8 overnight rating with a 32 share, the best all-time rating for any single day of a major tournament. The previous record was set more than 30 years ago, on Monday, April 11, 1966, when CBS got a 12.0 rating for Jack Nicklaus's 18-hole playoff victory over Tommy Jacobs and Gay Brewer.
