Abstract (Document Summary)

Geisinger CMC, Moses Taylor Hospital and Regional Hospital of Scranton, formerly Mercy Hospital, no longer are struggling merely to maintain services. As members of bigger systems, they have stabilized and have introduced new services while contributing not only to more reliable health care, but to economic growth.

Together, the systems have about $500 million of construction planned or under way in Luzerne and Lackawanna counties, including the impending $80 million expansion and renovation of Geisinger CMC and construction of a $25.7 million Geisinger medical office building in the Mount Pleasant Corporate Center in Scranton.
