Suspected Hit-and-run Car Was In Earlier Crash
Citizens' Voice

Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
The car was seized Friday by investigators, who think it was the vehicle that fatally struck a 5-year-old boy Dec. 21 in Wilkes-Barre and fled. [Thomas Letteer Jr] became a "person of interest" in the case after a witness told investigators Letteer confided to his girlfriend that he "hit someone and killed them" after a drinking party that night, police say. "We want to compare the car on Dec. 3 and what we're looking at now," Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis said. "We're covering all our ground at this point. Knowing he was involved in an accident, we wanted to obtain as many records as we could." A call placed to Letteer's cellphone from The Citizens' Voice on Tuesday evening ended quickly when a man, who identified himself as Tom, hung up when he learned a reporter was on the line. A call seconds later to [Abigail Tarver]'s cellphone was answered by a woman who immediately said, "Please don't call me again," and hung up. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
