Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Police responded to a report of shots fired after an altercation between several people around 2 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of South Main Street. Lamar Bobbett, 27, of Edwardsville, and Maurice Cooley, 27, went to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township. A police report did not say how the men were injured. A hospital spokeswoman said Bobbett and Cooley were in stable condition around 8 p.m. Saturday, but didn't release any other information. Five companies have shown interest in a lease of Wilkes-Barre's parking garages, lots and meters and responded by Friday's deadline. Wilkes-Barre's parking authority will review the companies' responses and then decide whether to proceed to the last phase of the parking lease process, which would include receiving binding proposals by Aug. 15. City council could vote on a measure soon thereafter. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner. Further reproduction or distribution is prohibited without permission.
