Trooper Marc C. Yemzow reported that Robert J. Hackenbeurg, 73, of Winfield, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Express in the southbound lane when an unknown driver merged onto the bridge from the right into his lane without yielding to traffic, and swiped Hackenburg's vehicle.

Trooper Daniel J. Wilk reported that Janelle Sassani, 26, of Coal Township, was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta southbound while Larry E. Yocum, 64, of Huntingdon, was driving a 2005 Mazda B3000 north and negotiating a downhill slight right turn.

Sassani's vehicle came to rest off the shoulder of Black Mill Road, facing east, and Yocum's came to rest off Route 61, facing north, police said.
