Abstract (Document Summary)

"Self-defense is not just about punching and kicking," he said. "It's about life and living better."

"In life, you can be a person who rolls up your sleeves, or you can be the person who sits back and complains," he said. "If you see something you don't like, stand up against it."

"So often our lives are filled with bad news we're hearing on television or reading in the newspaper. People are under so much stress," [Lou Barletta] said. "Random acts of kindness can make a difference in one's life -- not only for the one who is on the receiving end, but especially for the person who does the kind act."
