Say this about the third annual Mayo Island Music Festival: There was a little something for everyone - the rock/rap of 2 Skinnee J's, the jazz fusion of Medeski, Martin & Wood, the philosophical hip-hop of The Roots and Cibo Matto's amalgamation of most every musical style.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the eight-hour fest was the presence of Sean Lennon (yes, that Sean Lennon), who plays bass in the New York-based Cibo Matto.
Lennon, whose longtime gal pal Yuka Honda plays keyboards and is the driving force of Cibo, is an accomplished bassist who also sang plenty of backup and indulged in some rapping. What would Daddy say about that? He'd probably dig the flow of Cibo's experimental music.
