Don't be fooled by our dearth of pink-sand beaches, pastel cottages and cricket matches. Bermuda's and Virginia's histories are intertwined, which helps explain Bermuda Hundred Road, Bermuda Square Shopping Center and other local homages to a group of islands 650 miles east of Hatteras, N.C.

"We share a common heritage and Virginia and Bermuda have enjoyed many close ties over the last almost 400 years. Indeed, we were once one. The third charter of the Virginia Company extended the boundaries of the colony out to sea in order to include Bermuda."

During an interview yesterday, [H. Benson Dendy III] said that he and other members of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation have been meeting annually with Bermuda's St. George's Foundation. At least one Bermuda exhibit is in the works for Jamestown.
