Abstract (Document Summary)

Regional councillor Mario Ferri, co-chair and founder of the local Santafest Committee, is being roasted like a chestnut because the [Santa Claus] parade in [Vaughan] has been scheduled for Nov. 12 - or election eve.

Vaughan city manager Michael DeAngelis emailed [Gino Ruffolo] yesterday to tell her that, "in keeping with the corporate protocols for events," no challengers for council seats can ride on the horse- drawn lead wagon.

To try to defuse any potential Santagate, Ferri has emailed parade critics, saying "the Santafest Parade is an annual community event and not a city event."
