Abstract (Document Summary)

Comic magician David Merry brings his first one-man show to the Isabel Bader Theatre, 93 Charles St. W. This blend of "Rodney Dangerfield meets David Copperfield" runs for five showcase performances tonight to Saturday at 8: 01 p.m. (Saturday matinee at 2: 01 p.m.). Tickets are $25 at 416-872-1111: "I love going down to the Danforth for Greek food, although I love anything spicy. Satay on the Road (2306 Queen E.) is great- I love Thai food too. I am a huge movie buff. I took my kids to see Harry Potter. I loved it, even though I haven't read the books. I am looking forward to Ocean's Eleven, since I am a huge fan of Las Vegas, and gambling is a hobby."

Certainly the hardest-working "Mexican Elvis" on the touring circuit, the immensely entertaining and impeccably attired El Vez! returns to Toronto tonight with a special, holiday-themed show at the Horseshoe Tavern (370 Queen St. W.). Smart social commentary dissecting racial and religious politics collides with flamboyant showmanship and wry emulations of everyone from the King to Iggy Pop. A hoot. The hard-rockin' Maximum RnB opens. Advance tickets are $13.50. Showtime's 9 p.m.
