Abstract (Document Summary)

Whatever the reason, there's no stopping it- there's even an official [Steven Spielberg] signature line of MovieMaker Lego. The official Lego Web site (www.lego.com) has its own movie studio where mallrat moguls can bring Tinseltown techniques to their toyboxes, using just Lego, a stop-motion camera and a little imagination.

Movie parodies are the main inspiration for Lego filmmakers. Surf over to the Lego showcase section of IFILM (www.ifilm.com) and feast your jaded eyes on such plastic masterpieces as Lego Chainsaw Massacre and 2001: A Lego Odyssey. (What, no Apocalypse Lego Redux?)

The most Lego-mad film site of all has to be BrickFilms (www.brickfilms.com), which showcases dozens of Lego shorts and features by filmmakers of all ages. It also has a discussion section where Lego lensers exchange tips, including advice on how to make a convincing explosion for a blockbuster summer Lego movie. There's also some speculation on what to make next- perhaps a Lego version of Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone?
