Earlier this year, Mattel Interactive announced it was looking for a buyer, but made it clear everything was for sale except its lucrative Barbie CD-ROM line. Gee, imagine that. Since the launch of its first Barbie software product in 1996, Mattel Interactive has dominated the girl game group with a broad array of products for the PC, Macintosh, Nintendo Game Boy and PlayStation game console.

The result was two products involving teen stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen: Mary-Kate And Ashley's Dance Party Of The Century and The Adventures Of Mary-Kate And Ashley.

FOR GIRLS ONLY: Popular girls games include the various Barbie titles from Mattel, and Acclaim Entertainment's series based on Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
