Abstract (Document Summary)

Over-all, Canadian viewers will get hockey every night for at least the next week, with as many as three games a day this weekend. . . . CTV Sportsnet will carry all games from the Buffalo- Philadelphia and Phoenix-Colorado series, starting with a doubleheader on Thursday. The network's main goal was to avoid going head-to-head with the Leafs and it accomplished that even though it had last choice among the networks. . . . Jim Hughson and Craig Simpson will call the eastern series while Kevin Quinn and Ryan Walter do the west. . . . Sportsnet will preview the playoffs in a two-hour special starting tonight at 7:30, with Darren Dreger, Mike Keenan and Nick Kypreos assessing the series. . . . Games 2 and 3 of the Ottawa-Toronto series will be carried by ESPN and ESPN2. While this isn't the first all-Canadian series ESPN has aired, it is a rarity. "Our goal is to show at least one game from each of the matchups," says ESPN programming manager Gary Morgenstern. "We believe hockey fans in the States will be very interested in this series." . . .
