Abstract (Document Summary)

[John Cleary] has also received a strong endorsement from George Samis, who held the riding for the New Democrats from 1974 until 1985, when he stepped down from provincial politics. Samis now lives in the Kingston area, but is canvassing for Cleary in his old riding.

The strong showing for Cleary comes just one day after [Dalton McGuinty] pleaded with left-of-centre voters to throw their support behind the Liberals rather than the New Democrats to avoid a three-way vote split that would help the Tories. Also out to greet McGuinty yesterday morning were members of the United Association of Plumbers, Steamfitters and Welders.
