Abstract (Document Summary)

With its high-tech studio and splashy graphics, Sportsnet is instantly recognizable, even if its wall of monitors does bear a slight resemblance to Headline Sports. With more and more networks vying for viewer attention, that's important.

Sportsnet also took advantage of its CTV resources, airing a piece on Leaf draft pick Nikolai Antropov done by the main network's Moscow bureau. And there was good regional content, with reports on Felix Potvin and the Woodbine doping scandal.

The hockey show, and the two NHL games that followed, proved that Sportsnet has some established stars in Greg Millen and Jim Hughson, two of the best in the business. Millen showed he learned his craft well at Hockey Night In Canada. His explanation of how rule changes will affect overdressed goaltenders was superb.
