Abstract (Document Summary)

Alanis smiled and snarled, Bryan roared, and Canada's video talents got their due last night at the 7th Annual MuchMusic Video Awards (MMVAs).

Her first award of the night, which she shyly received after giving a kiss to presenter Geddy Lee of Rush, was for best international video for the song ``Ironic'' from her 20-million-selling Jagged Little Pill album, the disc that has made her the best-selling solo female artist in history.

Morissette, 22, later took two of four awards decided by audience vote: favorite female (beating Amanda Marshall, Celine Dion, Jann Arden and Deborah Cox) and favorite video (``Ironic'' again, topping videos by Bryan Adams, The Tragically Hip, Ashley MacIsaac and I Mother Earth).
