Abstract (Document Summary)

Pavel Bure had the World Cup's version of a 10-second warmup before participating in his first practice in almost a year.

Arriving an hour late for a two-hour workout because he had his knee checked out by the team doctor, Bure barely had time to stretch his legs before coach Boris Mikhailov put him to work doing line rushes with Sergei Fedorov and Alexander Mogilny.

The line rushes and subsequent scrimmage provided the first real taste of hockey Bure has had since the Vancouver Canuck forward tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee 15 games into the 1995-96 season, missing the remainder of the campaign.
