Abstract (Document Summary)

Kiridashi, a bay colt Minshall owned and bred, grabbed the lead right out of the gate and never looked back in yesterday's 60th running of the Prince of Wales Stakes.

Kiridashi was a tired fourth in the Queen's Plate three weeks ago. But with Larry Attard up, he took advantage of a speed-favoring track yesterday to win by two lengths over Plate winner Regal Discovery.

Regal Discovery, ridden by Todd Kabel, narrowly beat Kiridashi's entrymate, Mt. Saffafras, under Steve Bahen. Plate runner-up Freedom Fleet was a neck back in fourth. Sandy Hawley rode Freedom Fleet, the 4-to-5 favorite which closed too late in the 1 3/16-mile race.
