Abstract (Document Summary)

The decision came in the aftermath of CMT's replacement on cable TV by the Calgary-based New Country Network on Jan. 1. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) granted NCN a licence last June, removing CMT from the list of eligible services at the same time. Specialty channel operators in Canada can demand the removal of similar U.S. services from Canadian cable through CRTC rules.

On Dec. 20, the court dismissed CMT's appeal, ruling that it wasn't unfair for the CRTC to deny CMT the opportunity to appear at the hearing where CMT was delisted.
