Abstract (Document Summary)

A University of Toronto professor failed to disclose that he was paid $34,743 U.S. for a day's work for the Unification Church of Rev. Sun Myung Moon, a dismissal hearing has heard.

Valerie Edwards, lawyer for St. Michael's College, produced tax returns for the Unification Church's International Religious Foundation showing that Professor Herbert Richardson was paid the money in 1985.

One of the charges Richardson faces is that he hid the extent of his outside related income and activities, especially as owner of the $3 million-a-year Edwin Mellen Press and also of Mellen University, which operates out of the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean.
