Abstract (Document Summary)

[Michelle Wright]'s four-award sweep - Single of the Year for "He Would Be Sixteen," the fan-chosen Entertainer of the Year, a fourth consecutive Female Vocalist of the Year and a share of Video of the Year - dominated a Canadian Country Music Awards chock full of new voices from coast to coast.

Among them was Vancouver-based Patricia Conroy, whose auspicious Bad Day For Trains release yielded six chart singles and as many nominations. Conroy stood to unseat Wright in several major categories, but instead landed just one award, albeit weighty - Album of the Year.
