Abstract (Document Summary)

Well, it's no doubt they were dancing in the curling clubs of Saskatchewan last night after [Sandra Peterson]'s Regina team beat Maureen Bonar of Manitoba 7-6 in an extra end to claim the Scott Tournament of Hearts.

Peterson's nerve-wracking victory over Bonar snapped a 13-year drought for Saskatchewan curlers at national championships, both women's and men's.

Peterson did have an open takeout in overtime for the victory, but because Bonar's rock was barely biting the front of the rings she had the added chore of rolling her shooter slightly to the right to score the winning point. It was a shot she played with perfection, as she had throughout the round-robin portion of the tournament en route to a 9-2 record and first place over-all.
