Abstract (Document Summary)

While playing minor hockey in Newmarket, coaches tried to dissuade him from playing defence. They said he was too small - Macoun had not yet hit 5 feet in Grade 10 and, at 16, he wrestled in the 105-pound weight class. Macoun, therefore, decided the blue line was the place for him.

Luckily, they ended that venture before the recession and the trade to Toronto. Macoun is now a partner in a Calgary real estate company. This summer, he will return to Calgary to get his licence. He and [Karen] also have a 3-week-old son.
