Abstract (Document Summary)

TURKU, Finland (CP) - Jamie Macoun says he fooled them all. So did Canada - almost - by challenging boldly for its first gold at the world hockey championship in 30 years before settling for silver.

Macoun, a veteran defender with the NHL's Calgary Flames who scored four goals in three medal-round games, said he fooled the Americans when he snuck in for the final goal.

[Steve Thomas] led Canada with two goals and two assists. [Steve Larmer] also scored twice and Fleury once, while Trent Yawney, Joe Sakic, Macoun and Russ Courtnall also scored for Canada.
