Abstract (Document Summary)

[George Cohon] said [Mark Abbott] informed him last July that he had signed a contract with Oman that contained an Israeli boycott clause. Abbott said he had made a "terrible error in judgment" Cohon said.

Cohon said he was later assured by both Abbott and provincial government lawyers that the offensive clause had been deleted and replaced with one that required all products sold to Oman to be made in North America.

The contract with Oman has outraged Jewish groups. Representatives of B'nai Brith Canada, who attended the news conference yesterday, refused to blame Cohon for the controversy.
