Abstract (Document Summary)

Yesterday, 36 hours after the Ticats had put forth a heartless effort and suffered their fifth straight defeat, a 34-4 loss to the lowly B.C. Lions, [Al Bruno] paid the price.

Bruno, who was told of his dismissal when he arrived at Ivor Wynne Stadium yesterday morning, was at a loss to explain the Ticats' dismal performance against the Lions.

Bruno, who was in his seventh season with the Ticats, departs with a career regular-season coaching record of 55-55-3. In six previous seasons, he led the team to four Grey Cup appearances, winning the league championship in 1986. The Ticats won a club record 12 games last season before losing 43-40 to Saskatchewan in the Grey Cup.
