Abstract (Document Summary)

A second youth, 18-year-old Mukesh Narayan of the Metro area, tried to help [Tony Le] but was stabbed five times by [Kevin Dyer Lake], [Eugene McDermott] told the court. Narayan has since recovered from his wounds but remains angry at what happened, he said.

The prosecutor added that about five weeks before the incident Le and some of his friends had assaulted Lake in a subway station. Lake was told he could lay charges but declined to do so, McDermott said.

Defence counsel Nola Garton explained that after the stabbing incident Lake told a friend, the son of a Metro police officer, what had happened. As a result, the lawyer said, arrangements were made for Lake to surrender himself the next day. He has been in custody ever since.
