Abstract (Document Summary)

Metro's smallest board of education wants to highlight the history, geography economics and culture of Pacific Rim countries in an effort to raise student awareness of the important role Asia will play in Canada's future.

In his report, [Dick Dodds] dazzled the board with economic statistics showing that in the next decade Asia will have a gross national product greater than Western Europe's and as large as North America's.

[Ken Maxted] said he's hoping the cost of initiating the curriculum changes, expected to be about $150,000 in the first year, will be covered by corporate donations.
