Abstract (Document Summary)

Parents of the students now using the school - renamed Josyf Cardinal Slipyj Catholic School - say the public board hasn't proven it really needs to use the school again.

The Metro separate board has been using the building, near Royal York Rd. and Bloor St W., since 1985. Josyf Cardinal Slipyj Catholic School has offered Ukrainian-language heritage classes and Catholic instruction in the Eastern Rite.

"If this board decides unilaterally to take the school back we will not simply sit down, we will not melt, we will not go away," parent Yuri Spolsky told the trustees. Spolsky, who spoke on behalf of the committee to keep Cardinal Slipyj school open, has two children at the school.
