Abstract (Document Summary)

One TV encyclopedia recalls the show: "(It was about) a little boy who was always trying to help out but who usually managed to make everything worse. [Dennis Mitchell]'s long-suffering parents put up with it as best they could, which was more than could be said for Mr. Wilson, their next-door neighbor (actor Gale Gordon). . . Adding to the general confusion was Dennis's dog, Freemont."

He got married at 21, but that didn't last. "I didn't really want the responsibility of marriage," he says today. "I'd rather be a happy, single guy. I don't hate women but think about it, you get into a relationship with a girl, you don't know what is going on, with AIDS and all that, these days."

A self-confessed "square," North says: "I don't do drugs, I don't smoke, I don't drink. I like young women to dress and act like real ladies. But too many of them look and sound like truck drivers. Yeah, you could say I'm pretty conservative."
