 'Medicine Hatter' Kalan wins Canadian Idol title

[Kalan Porter] led most predictions. Odds-makers in Antigua gave him generous odds; an online Spectator poll gave him a nearly twice as many votes as [Theresa Sokyrka] going into last night's finale; screams in the Toronto theatre gave it all away. As Porter struggled to say what kind of music he'd like to record ("light rock"), his father Rick yelled from the back of the room with his only concern: "As Kalan's father, I wonder, does this mean we better get another hired hand on the ranch?"
