Toronto, Ont.
Snack food giant Hostess Frito-Lay Co. has purchased Miss Vickie's, a specialty potato chip manufacturer. The purchase price was not revealed. Miss Vickie's, an upscale chip company founded five years ago by Vickie Kerr, will operate as a separate unit within the Hostess Frito-Lay company. Jim Postl, Hostess Frito-Lay president, said that over the next few months he will be working with Miss Vickie's management and 40 employees to assess opportunities for growth and improvement. "We view this in essence as a great marriage. Miss Vickie's has an outstanding product and image and we have trucks covering 1,000 routes. This gives us the ability to put this product in the hands of every Canadian consumer," Postl said. (excerpt) Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
