Liberals favored to win Newfoundland election today

The Liberals appear bound for re-election. A poll by Decima Research for the Newfoundland Teachers Association showed the party with 51 per cent support. The Progressive Conservatives had 35 per cent and the New Democrats 9 per cent. The poll, conducted April 22- 24, is considered accurate within five percentage points. Conservative Leader Len Simms and NDP Leader Jack Harris have argued the province's financial position doesn't require measures as drastic as those [Clyde Wells] is proposing.
